In January I entered three photos into the open division of the annual Sony World Photography Competition. When I received an email that the image I entered into the panorama category had been short-listed and was a finalist I was elated. I was honored and thought that would be the end of it. In March I had a telephone call from London letting me know I had won! What an amazing feeling to be recognized on a world-wide platform. There were so many fabulous entries (I read +/- 112,000) from all over the world, the idea I had won was a lot to wrap my brain around. At first I thought there was no way I could get to London for the awards, but I decided there was no way I could NOT attend. I had to find a way to make it happen, I knew I would regret not taking the opportunity to meet photographers from all over the world and engage in the community. Planning has come together and my trip is a reality. Thankfully, my sister is travelling with me and she happily took over the itinerary planning. I have a feeling we won’t be sleeping much! We have so much we want to do and photograph.
